Next fall when you see geese heading south for the winter, flying along in a V formation, you might consider what science has discovered as to why they fly that way:As each bird flaps its wings, it creates an uplift for the bird immediately following.
By flying in a V formation the whole flock adds at least 71% greater flying range than if each bird flew on its own.People who share a common direction and sense of community can get where they are going more quickly and easily because they are traveling on the thrust of one another.
When a goose falls out of formation it suddenly feels the drag and resistance of trying to go it alone and quickly gets back into formation to take advantage of the lifting power of the bird in front. If we have as much sense as a goose we will stay in formation with those who are headed the same way we are. When the head goose gets tired it rotates back in the wing and another goose flies point.
It is sensible to take turns doing demanding jobs ... with people or with geese flying south.Geese honk from behind to encourage those up front to keep up their speed. What do we say when we honk from behind?
Finally ... and this is important ... when a goose gets sick or is wounded by gunshots, and falls out of formation, two other geese fall out with that goose and follow it down to lend help and protection. They stay with the fallen goose until it is able to fly or until it dies, and only then do they launch out on their own, or with another formation to catch up with their group.
" If we have the sense of a goose, we will stand by each other like that"...

A nice lesson, well learnt from nature..!
Great post, passerby..!
With Best Regards,
Srijith.
Great post.
Also, have you thought about one more thig: Do you see a similarity between this V formation, and the V of the pointed head of a spear or a javelin? Socha hai kabhie? Socho, socho... Something to do with thrust, maybe? :)
Nature is superb, and there can be no replacement for it.
Cheers!
Very interesting post.... Nature is inspirational as well...
it's so good to read ur inspirational and touching posts again.
::hugz::
Absolutely. If we look around us there is so much to learn from every other species. But we are too busy destroying them to learn any of them.
Lovely post.
beautiful post
if only we learned and observed nature more closely :)
came here from HH gmom- very informative post
I have been seeing some migratory birds in the last one week
agree we can learn something from geese. So saying" You goose" would no longer be abusive!!
amazing post!! kindered soul!!
me? love my face!! :p
Our nature is always teaching us.It would be great if humankind could learn these good lessons.
thank you, madame! and isnt that the freedom of written words.. to be perceived the way we want them to be... :)
p.s: i still dont have a nick for you.. come up wth something for me,to call you!
i used to love to draw this v formation..
another important lesson. ill keep that in mind :)
Oh..is that right. Interesting. I think about this in our work style. Will a V formation work in our rat race??? hmmm maybe we need to bring in an appraisal system for the geese as well and see if they continue with the "V".
have seen the V's a million times, but never really got to think of it, except stare at it in awe!!
Until now!
:)
Hmm....
I did not know that there was so much to it.Thanks

Thankyou for all your words.
ps: Welcome Artnavy to my blog world, I am happy to read your comments here.
ps: Jacinta ... will visit you soon. thankyou
Ps: Pradeep ... thankyou for making me/ us see the shape of certain instruments with the shape of V.Indeed great observation.
Ps:Velu....Did u observe your name/id Begins with the letter "V"
Hi Seriously_frivolous.
Infact i think if we all get aware of this fact, only then we have Learnt and understood the power of TEAM work.
We can get many lessons of MBA and many such courses from the facts all around us in nature itself.
I hope we all can/could understand their importance. Interesting point raised by you.
Yes, indeed Rat race!
thankyou
