get_over _it

I am trying to figure out what to do with memories - both the good ones and the bad ones. Seems there is a lot of emotion tied to both. Memories that have physical evidence of stuff tie you down. Do bad memories hold us back? and do good ones give us illusions about the future? I know things change, because I have later laughed at things that gave me grief. But I am getting older and may not have time to "get over it".

It is hard with emotionally charged things. You cannot discard, you can never throw them away.
Infact you preserve them because they make you laugh or cry. They enliven everything around you.

When he was around he misplaced them, kept them in all wrong places. Searching them was everyone's duty in the house. They were plain and simple, he handled them with care, but he kept misplacing them. Misplaced things have to be searched till they are found. If he misplaced them, late in the evening, they had to be in the deep freezer, at those hours he enjoyed a drink and would help himself with icecubes. To refine our search we asked him, what time did he last see through them. He had a good memory for everything, but only for his misplaced spectacles.
He was proud that he Only misplaced; never lost them.

Last evening, I saw them in my closet drawer. They remain there forever now, never to be misplaced again...

Dear blogreader:
Memories tied to with impermanence thing, never fade, isn't it?

Nice thoughts you have put in this post..

Good memories and bad memories both are very close to our heart... They remain there because we want them to.. Some ppl are living only because they had a good time in the past, maybe because there was a person in their life whose memories they cherish... If such ppl do not preserve memories the meaning of their life is lost... Even bad memories give us a lot in life they teach us not to make mistakes of that type in the future...

mmm .
pain and joy are two sides of the same coin. It was nice of you to share these memories. I won't advise you not to feel bad. I won't even ask you not to cry. For tears cleanse the soul. But what you should cherish is those happy moments that make life worth living. Those that bring a smile along the lips
Agreed!A tear is a diamond. Valued. But the tinkling laughter is precious... like the sound of music.
departure is but complementary to arrival. It is the next logical step to a rational mind
take care.
cheer up

Dear Passerby,
You are right, there are good memories and there are bad memories. However we can even take a bad memory and make it a learning experience for ourselves. Or at least not let it rule our lives and bring us to negative thinking all the time.
Loved the picture of the glasses on the piano. Very beautiful.
Beautiful blog!!

.. liked it... "almost" the whole of it. it's once again the memories isn't it? yeah it is. sometimes i feel they're so weak... so helpless... i mean the memories... we create 'em.... we rate 'em.... n' then we do whatever we want to... sometimes we preserve 'em like an old bottle of scotch...or we just let 'em get lost...n' fade away like the twilight.... n' that's why i don't like those photographs... because it makes me forget all those moments those were not bein' captured in 'em.... just like a piece of comprehension.... n' we tend to underline a few lines here n' there.... the likes that we feel are important than the rest... n' after a while when we go through the same piece... we so hopelessly overlook the "un"underlined lines for the ones that were underlined.

"... it's a huge reservoir of films.... yeah i'm talkin' about our brains. everythin' gets trapped in there never to return to the source of orgin.... n' there ain't no special chamber in there called "memories"...uh-uh!.. but we only tend to bookmark a few cells. some tend to go happy... some tend to go sad... while the rest sees 'em go lost when they think they're relyin' on those bookmarks more than their life itself... i represent those bookmarks as our special ability of forgetfulness n' ungratefulness to the rest of those tirin' cells that always keep 'em alive lookin' for you to get noticed.."

p.s. enjoyed every piece of your words.. hopin' to get some more of it every now n' then. n' till then...you gotta take care!

True, some are waiting for our attention. We keep remembering the same ...

Our whole past, today is nothing but a memory.

thankyou for the encouragement
